The same mindset that is driving all the latest breakthroughs in materials science.<\/p>\n\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n  <\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"block blog-content \" data-defer>\n\n    \n  <div class=\"row align-items-center\">\n\n    <div class=\"col col-lg-8 col-blog-content\">\n              <h4>THE HERCULEAN PILLARS OF BIO-BASED MATERIALS<\/h4>\n      \n      <div class=\"text\">\n        <p>We\u2019ve all ridden the wave of \u201cnature responsible\u201d thinking: staring in the supermarket at a bottle of umeboshi vinegar, trying our first no-poo shampoo in the shower, sipping biodynamic wine during a dinner at a friend\u2019s place\u2014without really knowing, let\u2019s admit it, what it actually meant. There\u2019s no doubt, don\u2019t get me wrong, that this was a good thing. That is not my point. As \u201cbio\u201d was progressively becoming part of our everyday vocabulary, however, it was already no longer the priority for Research &amp; Development labs.<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t gossip from a bored Reddit user\u2014it\u2019s an insight from Frontiers, one of the most authoritative international scientific publishers: <strong>today, structural engineering, robotics, medicine and materials science conceive innovation as revolving around biomimicry and bio-inspiration<\/strong>. What drives this is a \u201cnew\u201d awareness: for over 460 million years, plants have evolved in unstable environments and climatic conditions, adapting and even learning to anticipate changes. In short: they possess knowledge that surpasses any technology. A true revolution in <strong>bio-construction<\/strong>, it not only aims to reduce emissions but also to <span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hdblog.it\/green\/articoli\/n604798\/edifici-zero-emissioni-ue-2050-tool-monitoraggio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">make buildings active participants in the fight against climate change<\/a><\/span>. Two \u201ctree\u201d structures\u2014each capable of capturing up to 18 kg of CO\u2082 per year\u2014were already showcased at the Canadian Pavilion of the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, with a third displayed at the Triennale in Milan.<\/p>\n<p>Also following nature\u2019s logic is the <strong>world of colour<\/strong>, where one of the most exciting innovations is \u201c<strong>SO-COLORED<\/strong>\u201d, presented at last year\u2019s Milan Design Week. Born from a collaboration between the Japanese studio We+ and Algal Bio Co., the research initiative <strong>explores the use of powdered microalgae as an innovative pigment source<\/strong>. Mixed with resin derived from Indonesian dammar, this creates a smooth, glossy compound, reminiscent of ceramic or glass, offering new <strong>sustainable colour possibilities<\/strong> for the furniture and interior design sectors.<\/p>\n\n      <\/div>\n\n          <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n  <\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"block blog-content \" data-defer>\n\n    \n  <div class=\"row align-items-center\">\n\n    <div class=\"col col-lg-8 col-blog-content\">\n              <h4>FASHION AS A FERTILE GROUND FOR EXPERIMENTATION<\/h4>\n      \n      <div class=\"text\">\n        <p class=\"p1\">And fashion, you ask? As always, it represents fertile ground\u2014now literally\u2014for testing new material concepts. If leather made from wine industry byproducts already made us look at our Valpolicella Ripasso differently, one of the most intriguing novelties today comes from <strong>Oxman<\/strong>, a design company blending engineering and biological programming. They are <strong>called<\/strong> <strong>OZERO<\/strong>: shoes that grow and decompose just like ecosystems. Cultivated in the lab, they are entirely made\u2014or perhaps better said, self-generate\u2014from a thermoplastic polymer produced by bacteria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No cutting, no assembly: just let them grow. Could this be the future of manufacturing?<\/strong><br \/>\nThe question, posed by this third article from Trendroom\u2014the Jersey Lomellina fitting room, open to inspiration and reflection\u2014remains unanswered.
