Glossary

A number of terms used in the circular knitting industry and many other acronyms and technical expressions are used on the Jersey Lomellina SpA site that may not be familiar.

By putting together a glossary full of technical terms and recurring acronyms, Jersey Lomellina SpA aims to provide clear definitions of some of the more specific textile terminology in order to learn more about the circular knitting and elasticized jersey fabrics industries.

PERFECT FIT

The fabric elasticity moulds to the body without be constricting, allowing the best freedom in movements.

POLYAMIDE

Synthetic fibre derived from the polymerisation of caprolactam.

POLYESTER

Polyester is a category of polymers which contain the ester functional group in their main chain. Although there are many polyesters, the term "polyester" as a specific material most commonly refers to polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

POLYPROPYLENE

Fibre derived from a plastic compound.

PILLING RESISTANT
